Smallchange.in : Vishal Dadlani's petition against media during Mumbai attacks catches on
Thursday, December 04, 2008

Famous Hindi cinema composer Vishal Dadlani is among the many in India who believe section of the Indian media were treating the terrorist attack on Mumbai as a TRP gathering measure, and were compromising security of civilians and NSG commando personnel by broadcasting commandoes' plans and activities on the air, which were accessible to the terrorists inside the hostage hotels via the same broadcasts.

Dadlani and others decided to do something about the media by launching an online public petition for people to sign to be registered and have it be sent to the Bombay High Court.

Among other issues, the petition argues, "The TV channels may try and say that their "live" feeds are slightly delayed, thus reducing their relevance to the terrorists. However, consider a terrorist inside a building, who has no information as to how and from which direction the forces are approaching. Then, consider the same terrorist, a few minutes later, with complete details as to where the forces have entered from, and obviously, the direction of their approach."

This full petition can be found and signed online at  http://smallchange.in/ . The petition has found multipartisan support among the BJP, Congress personnel and others.

Thousands of people have already checked in and added their stamp to the cause.
