The new Akshay Kumar starrer for Priyadarshan, Khatta Meetha, has taken the best opening of the summer after Rajneeti with around a 7-8 crore net collection on Friday, ahead of I Hate Luv Storys and Raavan. Bulk of the collections have been recorded in single screens. The reports are mixed however and it remains to be seen how steadily the film holds but a 22-23 crore weekend net appears safe.
Last week, the American release, Inception led the way ahead of all Bollywood releases in India with around 11 crore net. The film is holding well even in weekend 2, ahead of another Hollywood debut, Salt. Even Tom Cruise's Knight and Day held relatively ok in India for that matter.
Tere Bin Laden the Mumbai satire on an Osama Bin Laden had a decent, better than Friday initial, but lower than post-weekend expectation, run of about 6-7 crore net compared to 8 crore net recorded by Lamhaa which crashed. Udaan steadied out at over 3 crores.
